The unveiling of the new RTX 50 graphics cards and their subsequent market launch have been accompanied by a large number of issues that NVIDIA is still trying to address, albeit with little success so far. In fact, some of these problems, such as the lack of ROPs, have no solution, but black screens, lack of stock, and price, among others, do.
While NVIDIA announced this series at CES 2025 held in Las Vegas, the red team company opted to cancel the RX 9000 presentation event and postpone it indefinitely. It wasn’t until February 28 that Lisa Su’s guys presented the new RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 to society.
A week later, they hit the market and in many cases, at the recommended retail price, so, despite having a much larger initial stock than all of NVIDIA’s RTX 50s, they flew out of all stores for two reasons: the RX 9070 XT offers similar performance to the RTX 5070 Ti and because it costs around 300-400 euros less.
Remember that the RX 9070 XT has an MSRP of $599, while the non-XT version goes up to $549. With the new AMD RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 already on the market, AMD is already working on more affordable versions for all budgets.
The AMD RX 9060 XT is now on the way
The next model that AMD will launch on the market to make a name for itself in the mid-range is the RX 9060 XT, a graphics card with which AMD wants to compete with the RTX 5060 Ti that is not yet available on the market, although it is expected to do so in May, a month after its official presentation scheduled for April 16.
According to prolific X leaker (Twitter) @harukaze5719, the RX 9060 XT will be available in two versions: 8 and 1.6 GB of memory (just like the RTX 5060 Ti). ASUS would be one of the manufacturers to launch both models to the market and would do so within the Prime, Dual and TUF Gaming series with the models:
- Prime-RX9060XT-08G
- Prime-RX9060XT-8G
- Dual-RX9060XT-08G
- Dual-RX9060XT-8G
- TUF Gaming RX9060XT-016G
This information comes from the South Korean equivalent of the North American FCC, and everything points to its market launch being closer than initially expected. AMD already did so with the February 28 presentation of the 9070 series, so we shouldn’t be surprised to see a similar move with the RX 9060 XT.
It’s clear that AMD is following the same path as NVIDIA, launching the highest-end models first and then moving on to more affordable models. So far, there’s no news regarding the RX 9060 without XT.
If the price of these new models is as tight as the RX 9070 Series, it is likely that AMD will not consider launching cheaper models since they would not have a place, except among a very small niche of users, although various rumors indicate that it is also working on an RX 9050.
NVIDIA has realized that it is out of the market with the high prices of the RTX 50 and a few days ago it adjusted the prices downwards, however, it still has to lower them much more if it does not want AMD to take over the mid-range market, which, after all, is the one that sells the most.
