Apple is working on a completely redesigned future Magic Mouse to correct some long-standing criticisms, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In its newsletter “Power On“, our colleague claims that Apple is developing a design “more suited to the modern era”. However, don’t be in a hurry, it does not plan a launch before mid-2026.
A revision awaited for fifteen years!
Despite the Magic Mouse’s recent switch to USB-C, the main complaint remains against Apple’s wireless mouse: its charging port remains located under the accessory, making it unusable while charging. Although this is a minor inconvenience due to the speed of charging, Apple finally seems ready to relocate this port.
The upcoming model, the Magic Mouse 3, could go further and adopt a more ergonomic and comfortable design, taking example from popular alternatives like the Logitech MX Master 3S, which offers a thumb rest, two scroll wheels and a port for front load.
While this is good news, it should be remembered that the Magic Mouse was introduced in 2009, with minor developments such as the rechargeable battery in 2015 (Magic Mouse 2) and the move to USB-C this year. With this redesign, Apple finally seems ready to modernize its device which continues to be overshadowed by the trackpad.
