CES 2025 is the perfect event to introduce us to technologies that are out of the ordinary. The least we can say is that Acer is doing well with its new Nitro Blaze 11 portable game console. We were also able to test this technological gem on site thanks to our reporter whose report you can find video below. Here is what you need to remember about this device whose size and weight are surprising.
A weight not as high as it seems
What is immediately striking about the Acer Nitro Blaze 11 is of course the size of its screen: 10.95 inches, the largest portable console ever released. It is well ahead of the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck, both of which have 7-inch screens. But, as we see when taking it in hand, its weight remains reasonable (less than a kilo). If this bothers you, you can also place it on a tripod.
Also during this CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Acer unveiled its Nitro Blaze 8. These presentations come a few months after the Nitro Blaze 7. As their names indicate, these consoles have 8 and 7 inch screens.
These three models have very similar characteristics. They feature an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, an AMD Radeon 780M integrated graphics card, 16 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM and up to 2 TB of SSD storage. Add to that Windows 11 and you have between your fingers a computer or at least a powerful tablet which can also function as a device dedicated to gaming.
Detachable controllers, that little extra something
The Nitro Blaze 11 also allows you to detach controllers, a bit like the Nintendo Switch, which is always nice. Just like its connectivity which includes USB 3.2, USB 4 and Wi-Fi 6E.
However, there remains a real problem. Indeed, if we do not yet know the price of the 11-inch model, that of the 8-inch model is already 1000 euros. We are really in a high price range which is not aimed at the greatest number of people. This is unfortunately the price to pay to benefit from such features, but it is also much more expensive than the competition. Will the Acer Nitro Blaze 11 be able to carve out a place for itself in an already very crowded market? We will have the answer in a few months or years.
