Indeed, in the United States, Amazon has just launched its new discount sales platform: Haul. “Amazon Haul offers a wide selection of products, all $20 or less, covered by the Amazon Guarantee, which protects customers when they purchase from our store, whether sold by Amazon or one of our partners sales” explains the American giant.
In order to guarantee lower prices, packages are shipped directly from China, which also implies longer delivery times compared to what the American giant usually offers. Like the Chinese platforms from which it draws inspiration, Amazon Haul is full of emojis, crossed out prices and other fiery symbols to catch the customer’s eye.
The majority of products are priced at around ten dollars, and customers can benefit from even more savings when they add items to the same order, with 5% off orders of $50 and more, and 10% on orders of $75 and more.
The American giant promises to control the products offered by sellers in Haul so that customers can be sure of receiving products that are safe, authentic and comply with current regulations. And for any item a customer chooses not to keep, Amazon offers free returns on all Amazon Haul purchases over $3, within 15 days of delivery.
Note that the timing is rather bad for Amazon to invest in this business model, given that President-elect Donald Trump has proposed imposing a 60% tax on imported Chinese products.
