Recently, Apple has launched the iOS 18.1 fifth betaa version that, in terms of errors, should be quite stable, however, has a drawback, and that is that its functions are oriented towards Apple Intelligence, which makes it an unnecessary update for many, and it will only give you problems.

Therefore, if you have an iPhone 15 or earlier, without the option for AI, or simply live in a country in the European Union or China, it will be absurd for you to download it, since you will not notice any differences with iOS 18, except for increased heating, lower battery life, and worse optimization of the system in general.

Don’t install iOS 18.1

If we review the features of iOS 18.1, the truth is that they are quite exciting, but of course, only if you have an iPhone 15 Pro or higher and live outside the EU or China, otherwise, you will have a heavier version than iOS 18 and with a worst performance for your phone, so not only would we not recommend installing a beta which will not be of any use to you (you will only see a couple of changes in the control center), but we would not tell you about the official version either, at least if Apple does not already open the possibility of using it in these countries, and it seems that this will take a long time.

iOS 18.1

The new version weighs more than 6 GB, and in my case, on an iPhone 13 Pro, the performance when installing it was so bad that it overheated and asked me to wait a bit for it to cool down, something that had never happened to me with a beta installation.

Also, if you are thinking about purchasing an iPhone 16, or just waiting for it to arrive, remember that Installing a beta forces you to do it on the new phoneat least if you want to use and recover your Apple ID information, which would lead you to have a beta on that iPhone 16, assuming, in turn, a possible loss of warranty for it, which would put you in a very big bind when you receive it, for not knowing what to do, and all this for a simple beta on your previous phone.

Siri in iOS 18

It is assumed that it will be officially launched in October, and being in beta 5, it is more than likely, however, it is not confirmed at all, so by doing so you will be risking the time that you will have a beta installed on your iPhone, something that We only recommend on test devicesnot on your regular phone, as it may be buggier than expected.

In short, if you want to try AI and you meet the requirements, we understand you, and I would also get the beta. Otherwise, forget about it and wait, at least, for it to be officially launched, thus avoiding the loss of warranty and possible problems that your iPhone would face, since you will hardly notice any changes with iOS 18, and if you do, they will be worse. And you, what do you think? Have you been able to try it yet?
