The main difference in terms of design is in the colors available. While the iPad mini 6 included an exclusive pink color, the iPad mini 7 replaces it with a new option in bluekeeping the space gray, white and purple.

Even though the screen is still of high quality, Apple has maintained a 60Hz refresh ratesomething that some users might consider a limitation compared to the ‘Pro’ models, which offer 120 Hz for a smoother experience.
Performance: power assured with the A17 Pro chip
One of the most significant updates to the iPad mini 7 is its processor. Apple has incorporated the A17 Pro chip, the same one found in the iPhone 15 Pro, which guarantees a exceptional performance in all tasks, from video editing to running graphically demanding applications. The A17 Pro, made with 2 nanometer technology, offers 15% more speed compared to previous generations, along with greater energy efficiency.
The A17 Pro is also designed to better handle AI-related tasks, grouped under Apple Intelligence, such as new Siri features and real-time image generation, ensuring that the iPad mini 7 is ready for the future of the Apple software. It must be remembered that these functions, for the moment, will not be available in Spain, at least until well into 2025.
The iPad mini 6 featured the A15 Bionic chip, which offered excellent performance, but it didn’t match the speed and AI management capabilities of the A17 Pro.
More base storage and same battery
Apple has listened to user demands and increased storage capacity on the iPad mini 7. The base model now offers 128 GB of storage, unlike the base 64 GB of the previous generation. It also has 256 GB and 512 GB options, a significant improvement over previous generations.
In terms of battery life, the iPad mini 7 still offers up to 10 hours of web browsing or video playback, which is more than enough for most users. This autonomy allows prolonged use throughout the day without worrying about having to charge the device.
Regarding the cameras section, the new iPad mini maintains the configuration of the previous model. In the back we find a 12MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, with a bright lens that offers good quality photos, while the front camera is also 12 MP with f/2.4 aperture, ideal for high definition video calls. Although the cameras are not the highlight of this tablet, they more than meet expectations for a tablet of this size.
Connectivity and Apple Pencil
The iPad mini 7 includes improvements to wireless connectivity, with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. These updates ensure a faster and more stable connection, especially in environments with high-speed Wi-Fi networks. Furthermore, it maintains the USB-C port for fast data transfer and charging.
The iPad mini 7 introduces compatibility with the Apple Pencil Proan advanced stylus that offers greater precision and new features for note-taking, drawing, and document editing. This makes it an ideal tool for creative professionals who need a versatile device to work anywhere.
Price: small increase justified
The price of iPad mini 7 starts at €599 for the 128 GB Wi-Fi version, an increase of €50 compared to the base model of the iPad mini 6, which was launched for €549 with 64 GB of storage. However, this increase is offset by improvements in storage, performance and connectivity.
The iPad mini 7 is a solid evolution within Apple’s mini line. Although it does not change drastically in terms of design or screen, it offers significant improvements in performance, storage and connectivity, making it an attractive option for those looking for a compact and powerful device.
