After leaving the macOS 15.2 betawe have seen some very interesting changes that many of us have been waiting for for a long time, including a new icon and shortcut in the top menu bar of our computers, which, despite not being a very relevant modification, helps, a lot, to visualize something that we all look at several times a day.
It is about the timebeing able to observe, permanently, the degrees at which we are, as well as the condition, that is, if it is raining, cloudy, or sunny. Additionally, if we click on this, it will take us to more detailed information about it.
In order to have this new icon, we will have to have the beta of macOS Sequoia 15.2, or failing that, wait for this version to be released publicly, which, together with iOS 18.2, is expected in December.
Once we have it installed, we must access the menu Settings – Control Center – Menu Bar. In that section we will see different options to choose from, among which the Time option will appear, and we can enable it, since by default it will not appear.
As we see, we will also have Siri or clock settings, among other aspects that we can customize to our liking. And from that moment, the degrees and general weather will appear in the bar, updating in real time and allowing us to choose the place we want to preview (it does not have to be the current location) as well as a more complete detail of it if we click on it. , without having to open a weather app or anything like that, although if we want even more information, we can open it directly from there.
This “widget” or whatever we want to call it, barely consumes performance and autonomy, so we can activate it without worrying about it, being quite useful, at least in my case, since I will not need to pick up the phone to see if it is raining, or it’s cold, before leaving home.
For now The beta version is only for developersso not even the public one would have been released, however, and as a personal opinion, it seems that it is quite stable and safe, so if someone wants to try it, they should not have many problems, although as we always recommend, it is better not to do it on personal computers and phones, since we could suffer from some problem and not have access to them, so it is better to have a test Mac, whenever we can, even if it is virtualized.
And you, do you think this icon was needed? The truth is that it is very simple to integrate, and many users have been asking for it for a long time (myself included), so if you were waiting for it, you no longer need to use widgets or external apps, since macOS itself will integrate it. Leave us a comment with your opinion and what other icons you would like to see in that bar in the future, since there are surely some that Apple forgets and are also interesting.
