On ChatGPT, the advanced voice mode allows you to chat with artificial intelligence, as if you were chatting with a human. The performance of this vocal interface is quite interesting, since we have the impression of really talking with ChatGPT, which we can even interrupt. But this functionality was incomplete until now.
Indeed, during the presentation of GPT-4o and advanced voice mode, OpenAI also announced the possibility of chatting with the AI while showing it a video in real time, with the camera of a smartphone (as if it was a video call with the AI). And the good news is that this new feature is finally being deployed.
This feature is very useful, since the user can, for example, film themselves while doing something, while asking ChatGPT for advice. And that’s not all, since the feature is also capable of using video screen capture. This makes it possible to ask the AI questions about what is displayed on the screen. For example, the user can open a message on their iPhone and ask ChatGPT for help responding, without copying and pasting.
Who will be able to access live video on ChatGPT advanced voice mode?
Unfortunately, this new feature will not be available to everyone, since it will be reserved for paying users. “All Team users and most Plus and Pro users should have access over the next week in the latest version of the ChatGPT mobile app,” indicates OpenAI. Furthermore, it also promises to offer this new feature to users in the European Union as quickly as possible (without giving a precise date).
As a reminder, OpenAI is rolling out live video in advanced voice mode, as part of its 12 days of announcements. It started hostilities on December 5, by launching the ChatGPT Pro subscription. OpenAI also launched its Sora generator, ChatGPT’s Siri integration, and recently made ChatGPT’s Canvas feature free for everyone.
- OpenAI already offers an advanced voice mode that allows you to chat with AI (almost) as if you were chatting with a real person
- And now this advanced voice mode also supports live video
- However, this new feature is reserved for paying users and is not yet available in the EU
