Sega this week released version 2.7.0 with additional content for Sonic Racing on Apple Arcade, introducing new challenges, characters and more to this multiplayer racing game that overshadows Mario Kart. This update not only spices up the competition, but also promotes teamwork between players around the world, with additional cosmetic options to customize the set.
Sonic Racing spices up racing
One of the most anticipated features has arrived with collective challenges. Players can now team up with the Sonic Racing community around the world to complete objectives, unlocking exclusive rewards. This cooperative aspect drastically improves the lifespan of the Japanese giant’s game, adding to the general interest.
Among the new content, two new characters have been added: Popstar Amy, unlockable via time trials, and Idol Shadow, who can be won via community challenges. These characters join already introduced Rockstar Rouge and DJ Vector, enriching the game’s roster with more familiar faces from the Sonic universe.
Sonic Racing, based on the gameplay of Team Sonic Racing, allows you to choose from 15 characters to race through 15 tracks spread across five areas. The addition of time trials and team combos provides varied gameplay, ensuring that there is always a challenge to overcome, much more so than in the disappointing Mario Kart Tour.
The Sonic brand may have lost the precious support of Sega consoles, but it is in full swing with games like Sonic X: Shadow Generations or films like the upcoming Sonic 3.
To discover everything new, download Sonic Racing on your Apple device. Obviously, an active Apple Arcade subscription is required. What do you play on Apple Arcade? The catalog should have reached 300 games…
