Apple released iOS 18.4 Release Candidate just a few hours ago. This release (RC) means the final version of iOS 18.4 is imminent, bringing major new Apple Intelligence features and other improvements to the Apple iPhone. In this article, we’ll tell you when you’ll be able to install the final version of the operating system.
We’ve been waiting a long time for the final version of iOS 18.4, but now it’s only a few more days until its final release on the iPhone. This is one of the most significant software updates in iPhone history because it incorporates a huge number of artificial intelligence features that will completely change the way you use your iPhone.
On the other hand, in addition to the new Apple Intelligence features, iOS 18.4 also introduces a small collection of new emojis, new Control Center buttons, more default apps for GPS navigation and translation, and other features. Remember, you can also try out Apple Intelligence before iOS 18.4 arrives.
What is iOS 18.4 RC?
A Release Candidate version of a beta software update is a version that’s practically ready to go on sale and be available to all users, in this case, iPhone users. The release of iOS 18.4 RC precedes the iOS 18.4 Golden Master (GM) version and means it’s a “release candidate” version. That is, there are only a few days left until its official release.
An RC version typically contains the same features and services as a final version of a software update. Remember that iOS 18.4 is currently in beta; the first iOS 18.4 beta update was released at the end of February, and until now, these iOS 18.4 beta versions had minor bugs and stability issues that have now been resolved with the RC.
When is the final version of iOS 18.4 coming out?
The arrival of the iOS 18.4 Release Candidate coincides with the timing Apple had announced for the release of the final version of this software update.
Apple announced that the expansion of Apple Intelligence to Europe would be available in April 2025. Additionally, following the launch of the iPhone 16e, the Californian firm specified that its artificial intelligence platform would arrive “in early April.”
Considering that Apple Intelligence in Spanish is already available in the iOS 18.4 beta, it’s logical to think that the final software update will be ready in the first week of April, or at the latest, the week of April 7th.
What’s new in iOS 18.4
The iOS 18.4 software update brings a host of new features that we’ve already had the chance to test in the beta phase. First, this update introduces numerous AI features for iPhone, such as Writing Tools for editing text; Image Playgrounds and Genmoji for generating images and emoji; Graphic wands for transforming sketches into high-quality illustrations; Clean Up for AI-powered photo removal; and much more.
The iOS 18.4 update also includes new emojis featuring a face with dark circles under its eyes, a harp, a fingerprint, and a smudge, buttons to play ambient music from the Control Center, and support for using other default apps in the GPS navigation or translation categories. This means you can switch from Apple Maps to Waze for directions.
And that’s all there is to iOS 18.4 and its imminent release. Apple Intelligence is just a week away from officially launching in Spanish, and if you haven’t tried it yet, we’re sure you’ll love it. It’s a very exciting update packed with great new features for iPhone that will change the game.
