While Apple has just deployed new Apple Intelligence features on compatible iPhones (but not yet in the European Union), the Sellcell site has carried out an interesting survey in the United States. In essence, this surveyed more than 1,000 iPhone users compatible with Apple Intelligence, and more than 1,000 Samsung Galaxy users who take advantage of Galaxy AI.

The survey reveals that, for the moment, the new AI products offered by Apple and Samsung are far from satisfying their customers. In fact, 73% of Apple Intelligence users and 87% of Galaxy AI users indicated that the new AI features were “not very useful” or that they “added little or no value” to the experience they had on their smartphone.

Still, AI could impact future smartphone purchasing decisions. And 16.8% of iPhone users said they might switch to a Galaxy device if Samsung offered better AI features. At Samsung, 9.7% of Galaxy AI users would be ready to change sides if Apple offered better features. In other words, players in the smartphone market have the opportunity to increase their market share by offering new AI products that interest users. As a reminder, Apple will continue to deploy Apple Intelligence features via iOS 18 updates, while Samsung could announce a new version of Galaxy AI at the start of the year.

What are the most used features?

The survey also reveals the most popular Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI features. On the iPhone, the 3 most used features would be Writing Tools, which is a writing assistance feature, notification summaries, as well as the feature that highlights priority messages.
Among Samsung customers, the most popular AI features would be Surround to Search, Photo Assistant, and Write Assistant for Messages.
