For several months, Ray-Ban Meta connected glasses have regularly made headlines in the press. Indeed, in addition to the presence of features such as the camera which allows you to take videos, listen to music or even calls, these glasses also integrate Meta AI, a competitor to ChatGPT. The only downside: until now, this Meta AI integration was absent in France.
But in a press release published this week, Mark Zuckerberg’s group finally announces the arrival of Meta AI on its connected glasses in France, as well as in Italy, Ireland and Spain. “Starting today, people in these countries can interact with Meta AI using their voice to get answers to general questions”explains the company. Meta AI is therefore available in French, Italian and Spanish. Unfortunately, the Meta AI feature that allows the user to ask questions about what they see (thanks to the built-in camera) is still only available in the United States and Canada.
In any case, Meta AI is already capable of giving recommendations. For example, you can ask him what the best pastry is in Paris or ask him for gift suggestions for your children. And if you’re writing text, you can interact with this assistant integrated into Ray-Ban Meta glasses to find inspiration.
A successful product that would inspire other brands
Meta does not reveal the sales volumes of its connected glasses. But the group regularly talks about the success of this product. “The demand for glasses continues to be very strong. The new Clear Edition we launched at Connect sold out almost immediately and sold for over a thousand dollars online. We have deepened our partnership with EssilorLuxottica to build future generations of smart glasses that deliver both cutting-edge technology and style,” Mark Zuckerberg recently declared during Meta’s quarterly results.
Furthermore, Ray-Ban Meta connected glasses would inspire competitors. For example, rumors suggest that Apple is now studying the possibility of creating a similar product, while Samsung is already planning to launch a direct competitor to the Ray-Ban Meta in 2025. Xiaomi could also offer something similar. But for now, these are just rumors.
