Decidedly, it is not good to work in the video game lately. After the historic Rockstar hack that leaked GTA 6, it’s now 2K Games which was the target of a hacker. The publisher, responsible among other things for the NBA 2K series, has just announced on Twitter that the database of one of its partners has been corrupted.
“Earlier today, we learned that an unauthorized individual had illegally accessed the credentials of one of our vendors to the support platform that 2K uses to support its customers”, explains the company. In other words, the hacker has the contact information of thousands of players.
How to protect yourself against hacking 2K Games?
Of course, the latter intends to use this information to attack the players concerned. As 2K Games explains, several of them have already received an email supposedly from the publisher containing a malicious link. The firm therefore asks its customers to don’t open any emails until further notice, or failing that, do not click on any links who would be there.

In case it is already too late, 2K Games recommends change all saved passwords on his browser. Another effective solution: activate double authentication on all high-risk accounts and prefer, when possible, to use an authentication application, which is more secure than emails and SMS. Finally, run a scan with your antivirus to verify that no malware has been installed.
“Please note that 2K staff will never ask you for your password or other personal information”, says the company. Remember that this goes for any company whose services you use.
