A residential neighborhood with 3D printed luxury homes
This is a promotion developed by Icon, an architecture firm specializing in 3D printing, which has a project underway luxury homes in Texas.
Wimberly Springs is located in a neighborhood of the same name about 40 miles south of Austin and will initially consist of eight residences, each of which will have four or five bedrooms and up to 371 square meters Of surface.
The houses themselves will be comprised of designs by Icon and Bjarke Ingels Group, with Four floor plans available with curved shapes and a decoration that, according to the images provided, is apparently elegant with muted colors.
The houses are located 5 km from the city center, close to golf courses, leisure areas with restaurants, shops, etc. and include complete finish as if it were a conventional home, with floor-to-ceiling windows, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and freestanding bathtubs.
According to its creators, construction has already begun and they will use a large format 3D printer to build the basic structure of each residence on the site, extruding a cement-like mixture through a nozzle in layers. After this initial phase, human builders will move in to finish the roof, windows, and other sections.
