Autocomplete function
This is one of the most useful functions in Excel. Thanks to this function, we can fill rows or columns to speed up the process when it comes to series. Excel is able to recognize strings of numbers or words and auto-complete changes automatically. If we want to create a column with all the months of the year, the days of the week or a calendar, to name the most common uses, we just have to write the first two terms of the series, select them and drag selection to where we want it to be completed.
absolute data
Excel’s autocomplete function may be a problem for some users who only want to copy the same value to all rows and columns. The solution to this problem is to add the dollar symbol $ at the beginning of that number. This way, when dragging the numbers, the function changes the data without the $. This trick can be used to drag data both vertically and horizontally.today’s date
When we need to print or share the data from an Excel sheet and we want the date to change automatically every day, we just have to use the formula =today() in the date field. If we want to change the format, we just have to access the cell properties, as we explain in the next section.
Cell format
By default, Excel considers all the data we enter as numbers. However, we can change the format so that instead of forming numbers, it displays a perfectly formatted date, negative numbers, currency symbols, and so on. To access the cell format, place the mouse over the cell and with the right mouse button, select the option Properties. Next, we select the type of field that we want to use in Category and then the format in the section Guy.
Conditional format
The Conditional Formatting function, available in the Home options citation, allows us to create rules which will be automatically applied to all selected cells depending on what their content is. The number of available options covers any need we have and, for example, allows us to mark values greater than a certain number, negative numbers, greater or less than a value, among others.
