Eve Home continues to update its catalog of connected objects to gradually integrate Thread and Matter. To prepare for sunny days, the manufacturer is offering two hardware updates, the new Eve Flare, a wireless outdoor light, and the Eve Shutter Switch, a remote control for roller shutters.
Eve Home is a German brand specializing in the connected home. Its field of action extends from the garden tap, to light bulbs, via power strips, lights and even controls for rolling shutters. A wide range that the manufacturer brings up to date by integrating Thread to start with, Matter not being very far away.
Eve Shutter Switch for automated shade
Behind its apparent banality, the Eve Shutter Switch allows you to control your blinds and rolling shutters from your mobile. All you have to do is replace the existing wall remote control, which will take no more than five minutes, including the electrical connection. It embeds Bluetooth and is Thread compatible, unlike the first generation.
To take advantage of it, simply launch the pairing with your smartphone. The connectivity will then make it possible to program a precise schedule for opening and closing your blinds. It will even be possible to adapt it according to the level of sunshine, the outside temperature or if it starts to rain. You will of course be able to remotely control the opening and closing if you have a Thread compatible Hub.
Eve Flare, the luminous bubble
This nomadic luminaire is in its second generation and unsurprisingly resumes characteristics close to its ancestor. We therefore find the spherical design of 25 cm in diameter with a white and smooth surface. Turn on the Eve Flare and it will give you up to 90 lumens of light, making it primarily task lighting. This is not a defect, because it is designed to be nomadic and to be transported very easily from one room to another in your home.
It will also be able to accompany you in your exteriors, its IP65 certification allowing it to resist bad weather even in operation. It has a wide range of colors and intensity to create totally personalized mood lighting. The manufacturer promises an autonomy of more than six hours and, clever idea, it comes with a wireless charging base.
Both products are compatible with Thread for HomeKit, which requires you to previously own a second- or third-generation Apple TV 4K or a HomePod 2.0 or even a HomePod mini. We will have to wait for the future Matter update to take advantage of it with other ecosystems such as Android, Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
The Eve Shutter Switch and the Eve Flare are available now for 99.95 euros each.
