Although the union between HomePod and Apple TV is very interesting insofar as a great use of these speakers is to improve the sound of our television, putting together a HomePod and an iPad may seem strange. A union that, however, seems that it will take place, but not in the way we initially imagined.
A new accessory, but with a product vocation
In the latest issue of his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman tells us that Apple is working on a way to combine the iPad with a smart hub/speaker. Apparently the Cupertino company has studied multiple prototypes of an iPad dock that would create the same experience of the iPad/HomePod hybrid without needing a new product.
According to Gurman, the strategy of using the iPad is a safe bet for “make some noise when it comes to smart home” without having to wait the years it takes to develop a product right from the start. Thanks to this we could see this new accessory “as soon as this 2023”.
Apple is dedicating a good amount of attention to home automation products of our home. We see it in the completely redesigned Home app, we see it in the arrival of the Matter protocol, which allows us to use any device from any manufacturer directly in our ecosystem, and we see it with these plans as well.
While Gurman’s sources may have been correct about the development of this new support, the truth is that Apple plans can change quickly. More if we take into account that we are talking about an accessory. A device that could soon be considered a complement to the iPad or an evolution towards a more diversified HomePod range. One that included the HomePod mini, the iPad model HomePod, and the TV model HomePod.
