The number of locations and time zones where employers interviewed their candidates for a given position has increased steadily since the start of the pandemic. With remote switching, employers can source more talent from more places around the world. So says the latest report from Hired., which analyzes trends in the technology sector, especially for developers.
Until now we knew that a company reduces the possibility of finding technical talent if it does not offer remote work. Thanks to the Hired Salary Report in 2022, we already know how much: 25% pic.twitter.com/Uh0tq0C14d

For an open position in 2022, employers in this sector interviewed candidates in an average of 4.4 different markets and 2.1 time zones. And the data indicates that employers offering remote positions could have a hiring advantage. Specifically, since June 2021, candidates are showing a much greater preference for remote versus non-remote positions.
People who only work remotely
We have that while in January 2022, 18% of active job seekers (mostly developers) on the Hired platform indicated that they only wanted remote positions, a few months later, in May 2022, the preference for functions ” only remote” increased up to 31% of all active job seekers on the Hired platform.
At the same time, those who are closed to working remotely are only 8% and this percentage is maintained over time. At least according to Hired.
You may also be interested to know that salaries offered to tech job hopefuls remain at their highest point in history, driven higher primarily by growth in salaries for seasoned professionals (3+ years of experience) since before, even , from the beginning of the pandemic. Among the different roles included in this category, those of engineering management are at the top in salary material.
In addition, in most of the markets analyzed (the data comes from a study limited to the US, UK and Canada) salaries for remote jobs exceed face-to-face ones. The one exception is the area that already has the largest number of tech professionals, the San Francisco Bay Area (which includes Silicon Valley).
