Movistar has changed the particular conditions of your data vouchers. Or rather, it has modified a point that we could previously find and that, right now, since March 21, 2023, we cannot find anywhere. For this reason, we are going to see what this novelty consists of and how it can affect you.
So far this year, we have witnessed different changes in the blue operator, from the price increase that we already knew about since the end of 2022, to converting its mobile rates into options with unlimited data. And they have not been the only novelties that have been arriving at Movistar. But now they have been extra data that can be contracted in the operator those that have changed.
The limit of GB in Roaming
In the particular conditions of the bonuses that give us extra data from Movistar, they have completely eliminated a small paragraph that specified what would happen if we exceeded the 50 GB limit in Roaming. Specifically, this is what was displayed: ‘Data traffic carried out in Roaming in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and the United Kingdom will have a 50GB limitexceeding 50 GB/month, the price of each MB will be €0.0021/MB (VAT included)‘. In this case, we are facing the conditions that were in force since January 13 of this year.
Although, from March 21 Only one change was applied, but a most curious one. And it is that, as we mentioned, Movistar has removed that paragraph specifically the particular conditions of each of the data vouchers (5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB and 40 GB). Therefore, just two days ago, we only found this information in the ‘Description of the service’ section (point 2 of the particular conditions): ‘The Service allows the Client to expand the data at the maximum speed of the rate that they have contracted for the use of the mobile internet service at maximum speed in national territory and in roaming in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and the United Kingdom.‘.
But, Does this also apply to contract rates? If we quickly take a look at the conditions that, at the time of writing this article, has the operator on its website, we see that in all their mobile contract rates they continue to maintain the limit. Therefore, if you exceed the 50 GB limit in Roaming, you will have to pay 0.0021 euro (VAT included) for each mega that is consumed more.
What is the limit now?
It may be a simple change, but without a doubt it is an important detail that we have noticed, since it can make a difference when contracting extra data vouchers with Movistar if we want to use the data in Roaming in EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or UK.
However, reference is still made, within the correct use of the services (section 6, point 6), to the fact that an extra surcharge may be applied to traffic that has been carried out in Roaming Zone 1 or EU Zone. For example, this will depend on the consumption that is made, if it is predominant in roaming to national traffic, or if there has been a long period of inactivity of SIM cards associated with a majority use in
Roaming.
