In 2015, Apple introduced a new “full-size” screen size for the iPad Pro, 12.9 inches. Since then, many users are eager to have an even larger tablet in their hands and on their desk. Will it eventually arrive?
Apple could have launched a 14-inch iPad this year! At least that’s what Mark Gurman announces in his weekly newsletter. According to the digger of Bloomberg, the manufacturer has been exploring the possibility of launching a larger iPad since 2021. And this year, Apple had the idea of putting a 14-inch model on the shelves. Unheard of for the iPad, but it didn’t happen.
No smoke without fire?
The transition to OLED was apparently one of the problems the company faced for this very large format tablet. The Pro range should switch from LCD – or mini-LED for the 12.9 inch – to OLED in 2024, but the costs rise sharply as the screens get bigger. Rumors of a larger iPad abound. Leakers have mentioned 14.1-inch models, and even 16-inch models in recent years, with or without mini-LEDs, with or without ProMotion (the dynamic refresh technology up to 120Hz). Nothing has come so far, but who knows? We can reasonably think that Apple is testing these large tablets in the secrecy of its lab.
