This SIM card has been reducing its size throughout its history, from the first ones with a DNI format, to the current smallest physical cards, the nanoSIM. But the real revolution came with the eSIM, which have made it invisible, because they are already integrated into the device.
Advantages of the eSIM
With the replacement of the physical SIM by the eSIM, the devices will no longer need the classic trays to insert the SIM, helping to compact the designs and improve their hermeticity. But also, the eSIM brings with it a new experience that opens up new possibilities and advantages.
Fewer worries
Adapters from nanoSIM to microSIM, or other formats, go down in history with the eSIM. We can also forget about looking for a spike to open the SIM card tray, and we will not have to worry about damaging the fragile pins that read the usual SIMs.
Goodbye waiting for the postman when we port
The portability will be easier, since it will suffice to download the operator’s profile using a QR code, without having to wait to receive the physical SIM. The same eSIM that we can use with one operator, we can use with another.
Of course, this does not mean that the terms to change the operator are going to be shortened, because the regulator of each country establishes the process and the terms of a portability, and it will depend on them to modify the times.
Up to ten numbers on the same mobile
The eSIM allows the download of up to 10 different client profiles, that is, up to 10 different mobile lines ready to work, although it only allows to have one active line at a time on the eSIMand another in the physical SIM.
eSIM is compatible with multi SIM
The eSIM will also make it easier to associate the same number to different devices. In addition to being useful to be able to receive calls from the same number on all our devices, or to share the data rate, it will also make it easier to have one rate for all devices.
How eSIM is activated
In the store they give you a QR code that you must scan to download your customer profile on your phone’s chip and thus be able to activate the eSIM.
To scan and activate the eSIM from your mobile, follow these steps:
- Enters Go to “Settings” > “Mobile data” and select “Add mobile data plan”.
- Scan the QR of the eSIM.
- then you can Activate and rename the different data plans.
- Enter the PIN eSIM activation.
Operators offering eSIM
Unfortunately, the eSIM is not a very widespread service among operators, so at the moment, it is only available in the following:
The eSIM price is usually free. What is not free is the multiSIM service to enjoy the advantages of the main line on different connected devices.
