An inventor has created a technology that helps you play the electric guitar with ease. How does it work?
Robotics has been in our lives for many years. What has come with great growth has been the development of artificial intelligence based systems. Over the last few years we have been able to verify how tools like ChatGPT have become very necessary instruments for day to day. After all, who would have imagined that a digital assistant could be capable of engaging in an intelligent conversation with our person?
Conventional robotics, that is, the palpable, has also grown exponentially. From robots created by Boston Dynamics to options focused on the assembly line, it has been possible to verify how the human being will have to live with this type of metallic units based on software of a very high level. Today we want to show you the advances made by a private engineer. After 16 years of development, Olav Martin Kvern has managed to create a robot capable of playing an electric guitar.
Let us see, therefore, what are the main characteristics of the technology developed with rudimentary means, why it is a very interesting proposal from the point of view of innovation and, of course, to what extent we are facing a differential technology that can encourage the development of other robotic programs dedicated to this industry.
This is the performance of a robot created to play the electric guitar
The inventor protagonist I had been in love with this instrument since the eighties. Some time later he decided to create a tool that would make it possible to use the electric guitar in a simple way. It would be a robotic unit that could carry out the movement of the strings to create music. A disability was what made him get down to work. He wanted outside help that would allow him to play the instrument without being limited to a few songs. In this sense, he wanted greater freedom of action.
In a statement to the Makezine media outlet, Olav Martin Kvern got down to work with the aim of being able to interpret songs previously introduced in a software. This same program would be in charge of sending orders to the hardware created ad hoc for play the different notes. In this way, it only required a single hand to interpret the determined melody. Thanks to the innovation introduced, this user has been able to enjoy one of his great passions.
It has taken him a long time, but thanks to this example, it can be determined that we are dealing with a technology that only requires a series of practical knowledge. What we have seen in recent years allows us to understand how only a Raspberry Pi is required to create robotic units with very specific functions. Throughout all these years he has had to carry out a whole series of tests to achieve a result according to his level.
He himself has recognized that this technology not good enough to be compared with the level reached by a large part of professional guitarists. However, he has allowed her to devote time to one of his passions. Be that as it may, the technology developed by himself is not expected to have a commercial path in the future.
