For iCloud+ users, Apple offers a private relay (also called a VPN) to change their IP address to another in their country. This very useful feature for privacy had been down for several days. Now, everything is working normally again for all iCloud+ users!
No more problems with iCloud Private Relay+
Last week, an outage in iCloud Private Relay+ caused major disruptions for many users around the world. Fortunately, Apple quickly took steps to fix the issue and all functionality is now restored for users worldwide.
The outage began on Thursday and continued through Saturday, causing browsing difficulties for iCloud+ subscribers. Apple confirmed the issue on its system status page, saying it was working to keep the incident as short as possible.
For those who had disabled Private Relay during the outage, it is now possible to re-enable it in your device settings. With Apple’s fix, you will no longer have any browsing issues and will be able to benefit from the advanced protection offered by Private Relay again.
iCloud Private Relay is a key feature for iCloud+ subscribers, it aims to enhance privacy by encrypting users’ browsing data. This innovative technology works by passing browsing data through two separate relay servers. This dual-relay mechanism separates the user’s IP address from their DNS queries, providing an additional layer of online privacy.
