Think you know everything about the AirPods 4 after the presentation that took place on Monday evening? Imagine that we continue to learn about Apple’s new wireless headphones. After the disappointment of the USB-C cable disappearing from the packaging, we now learn that the AirPods 4 pairing button will no longer be on the back of the charging case!
Apple introduced a change with the fourth-generation AirPods: the disappearance of the physical setup button that was located on the back of the case of previous versions. This button, used to connect the AirPods via Bluetooth to new devices, required a long press to initiate the connection.
On the AirPods 4, Apple has replaced this button with a capacitive mechanism hidden on the front of the charging case. Now, to activate pairing mode, simply open the case and double-tap the front. This new method makes the procedure simpler and more intuitive, without having to hold the button down as before.
It also allows you to reset AirPods
This capacitive button also serves another purpose: factory resetting the AirPods. To do this, simply triple-tap or hold down the front of the AirPods case for a long time. This is an approach we’re used to seeing on Apple products: simplicity and practicality.
AirPods 4 are now available for pre-order on the Apple Online Store and at authorized resellers such as AmazonTheir official release in France is scheduled for Friday, September 20, the date on which they will be available to the general public.
