With the AirPods Pro 2, Apple improved the charging case by adding a U1 chip for precision finding via the Find My app. That means there’s a built-in speaker in the case that can play sound to help you locate it. But the latter is also used to notify you of other actions.
An option to remove noise
This is because the speaker also emits a tone when you start charging the case. The sound is heard whether you connect the case to power via the Lightning cable or put it on a charging pad. If you find this annoying, here is an easy way to turn it off.
- Make sure your AirPods Pro 2 are connected to your iPhone (in your ears or open case).
- Launch the Settings app.
- Tap the AirPods Pro 2 tab, just below your Apple ID (on iOS 16).
- Scroll down and turn off the feature called “Enable charging case sounds”.
That’s all you have to do. Note that the setting will remain grayed out if the charging case is currently connected to power. Remember that the AirPods Pro 2 went on sale today and that we are testing them, see our Twitter or Instagram account.
