Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to Remedy’s cult game, made a surprise appearance at the Playstation Showcase. Via a blood-curdling new trailer, we finally have a release date for the title: October 2023!

As you know, Sony has made an appointment with fans around the world this Wednesday, May 24, 2023 for a new PlayStation Showcase. During this conference, the manufacturer took the opportunity to unveil some new titles to come on Playstation 5 and on the PS VR2.

We had the right to a few surprises, starting with the first trailer for Metal Gear Solide Snake Eater, or even the trailer for Phantom Blade, a promising ultra-nervous action game.

But during the evening, we also had the right to a new trailer for Alan Wake 2! It was time, Remedy finally decided to show us some gameplay. As we can see with his first images, the unhealthy and terrifying atmosphere of the first opus is making a comeback.

Alan Wake 2 promises to be much more terrifying

Besides, you just have to strain your ears to recognize the voice of Matthew Porretta, the actor who already played the cursed writer in the first part. The interpreter has, as promised, stacked up for the occasion. But that’s not all since we can also see that Sam Lake, one of the founding members of the Finnish studio and creator of Max Payne, lends his face to one of the main characters.

By watching this trailer, fans of Remedy productions will also have recognized the voice of James McCaffrey, the iconic voice actor of Max Payne (also present in Control). We therefore find the whole “little family” Remedy in this new production, which promises to be much darker, gory and disturbing than its elder.

From what we understand, Alan Wake is still stuck at BrightFalls in limbo, while police are looking for him. Just like the writer, they will in turn find themselves in the middle of an atrocious nightmare. In this regard, we note thatAlan will not be the only playable character. Indeed, we will also find ourselves at the controls of an FBI agent.

But above all, Remedy finally reveals with this trailer the release date of the title. As lead actor Matthew Porretta announced, the game will land on PS5 on October 17, 2023. The appointment is made!
