Among the tools we have at our disposal to create a connected ecosystem in the home, Alexa is one of the most notable. Amazon has spent years investing great efforts in building an intelligent ecosystem with its voice assistant as the core and our mobile phone and Amazon Echo Show devices as the control center to configure that ecosystem.
Now mobile app is updated leaving us with a good facelift. In this article we wanted to review all its new features and how the app has managed to make the management and automation of our ecosystem at home even easier.
An update that facilitates control options
If you have a speaker with Alexa, a Fire TV, a sensor or any other smart device compatible with this ecosystem, the mobile phone is usually the place where we can configure all our smart devices and launch automation commands if necessary. That is why the Alexa app must be easy to use, complete and with an intuitive interface.
The latest update of the Alexa app has managed to make things even easier for us, since its facelift allows us navigate the interface more easily and with somewhat clearer sections. If you want to try it, you just have to download it for your Android or iOS device and see all its changes.
The design focuses on further compacting the Alexa experience, so that we have everything much more at hand. If you notice, now we have fewer options in the lower bar, and the cards with options take on much more prominence, keeping the connected devices in our home in the foreground.
As the company has mentioned in one of its most recent publications, the control options and other features of Alexa are now 'closer to our fingers'. The main menu is even more accessiblebeing able to see at a glance your favorite devices, alarms, lists, routines and much more.
One of the most notable new features of this new update is the new direct access that allows us organize our devices by category. This list of devices and functions can be customized to our liking, being able to see only what matters to us about our ecosystem.
This way, in addition to seeing the status of our connected devices, we can also take a quick look at the number of lights that are on, or the temperature of our thermostat, as long as we have devices and sensors compatible with these functions connected to Alexa.
The new design also offers us the possibility of chat with Alexa much easier, since we will have the use of this assistant even more at hand. As before, we can interact with the assistant both by text and by voice, only the new interface makes it even easier for us.
Another benefit of this new design goes to those who have more devices connected to Alexa. And now You will find several filters to do a quick search of the devices you want to configure, being able to filter by age, by alphabetical order or search by name or keywords. You can also view all your devices as a list or interactive map. The latter is still only compatible with iOS devices and for some users residing in the United States.
With this facelift, Amazon seeks to offer a much easier and more interactive experience to both the most experienced and those entering the world of home automation for the first time.
