Safari is getting a makeover with tools that help you manage information faster and more securely, thanks to machine learning!
Starting with iOS 18, Safari, Apple’s browser is revamped with tools that help you find the information you need more quickly and easily. The updates rely on machine learning and artificial intelligence, but are not part of Apple Intelligence capabilities. That means that Safari improvements will be available on all devices compatible with iOS 18.
Several of the new features announced during the presentation of iOS 18 at WWDC24 have already been tested in the available beta versions. These include: Highlights, reading mode, design changes, another way of managing passwords, enabling application locking and others that we will describe throughout this article.

Highlights
Highlights allow you to discover important details about a website without having to read the entire content.
When a featured item is available, you’ll see a subtle purple flash on the tool icon in the browser bar. Tapping it will Safari will show you key information such as: location, opening hours, contact information, reviews, biographies or trailers, depending on the type of content to explore.
Highlights is currently available in US English. and, Since iOS 18 is in beta, the feature is not supported on all websites. However, you can turn off Highlights at any time in the Safari section of the Settings app.
Reading mode
Safari’s Reader Mode receives an update that makes it easier to read long articles. Now, you can find a table of contents to quickly navigate through the text and get a quick summary of the key points. Some essential functions, such as “Add to Reading List” or “Download PDF” are now available directly from the Safari toolbar.
Design changes
Safari gets a makeover in iOS 18 with a more intuitive and organized design. Apple has implemented changes to the tools accessed from the URL bargiving you a more efficient and personalized browsing experience.
The new tools icon, represented by a box with two linesgives you access to a pop-up window at the bottom of the screen when you tap it.
The window displays the tools prioritized by Apple, such as translation, reading mode, privacy protection, and font size, which are the most used by users.
In addition, The tab management page now features a unified toolbar for separate sections and tab groupsfor better management of these.

Some of Features that used to be hidden in the share sheet are now more readily available through the Safari toolbar.

Passwords
The same functionality as the Passwords section of Settings now works in a separate app for added convenience.
Passwords stores your logins and passwords securely and automatically fills them in for you in Safari. Plus,Everything syncs across devices, even passwords can be accessed on Windows PCs.
Application lock
The application lock function Ensures that only you can access them with Face ID or Touch ID.
Hiding an app locks it, removes it from the home screen, and saves it to a secret hidden apps folder in the app library.
