Precisely in this post we will talk about a function that has been around for years and that, as simple as it may seem, is very effective for having a shortcut that avoids us having to write our address every time we set that route. And it goes without saying that it is a function that is both in the Android app and in iOS.
Google Maps, take me home. you know where
Simply and plainly we are referring to tell Google Maps what is the location of our house. In the same way that you can add labels to have at hand any more or less frequent location, we can configure what is probably the location that we visit most frequently. Not in vain, we always end up returning to it.
To do this, we just have to follow these simple steps:
- Open the Google Maps app on the mobile
- Enter the tab Saved (bottom center of screen).
- Click on tagged.
- Now click on House.
- Write the address of your house (or the location where the garage is if you do not park at the exact same address). If it is more comfortable for you, you can also use the option select on map to add the pin manually.
And that’s it. There are no more tricks, no more stories. Now, every time you want to go home you will find the quick access without having to write the full address. It is enough that you are in the tab Exploreclick on the search bar and then on the label of House which appears just below. It should be said that if you move, you can change the address by following the same steps mentioned above.
If you also use Android there is a additional trick with which you will save time. It is about invoking Google Assistant, either with the button or the voice command of “Ok, Google” and then saying “Take me Home”. At that time, Google Maps will automatically open with directions to your home.
Less comfortable is in the case of the iPhone, since if you ask Siri for this, Apple Maps will be the application that opens by default, since another default navigation app for this cannot yet be established in iOS. Although if you have Google Assistant on the iPhone you can open the app and ask it in the same way as on Android.
What is common in all cases when you use this Google Maps marker is that You can choose the means of transport you want at any time. Car, walk, public transport… Come on, the usual.
