Tech News Desk – Veteran tech company Amazon has stopped issuing offer letters for campus hiring in India till January 2024, fearing layoffs. Due to which many IIT students of the country have got a big shock. According to the sources, this recruitment was to be done in the month of June, but now this recruitment has been postponed till January 2024. The postponement of offer letters has affected many IIT students.
Sources have learned that the recent IIT Bombay graduate, who bagged a position as a software development engineer at Amazon, informed that his offer letter was put on hold till January instead of early June. There are many people who did internships with him from different campuses, their offer letters were also turned down.
Similarly, students from NITs have also received notices of their offer letters being postponed, and there have been instances where offers from offer letters have been later rescinded. In response to these developments, Amazon has been sought for comment while awaiting an official statement on the matter. As such, Livemint could not independently verify this claim.

Despite ongoing layoffs in the tech industry, several major tech giants, such as Google and Amazon, are hiring H1B foreign workers for specialty positions in the United States. In March, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy made a public announcement about the company’s decision to lay off an additional 9,000 employees. This new round of layoffs represents the largest layoff ever by Amazon, following the prior dismissal of approximately 18,000 employees.
