Android 14 was released as a developer preview, but Android 13 will continue to receive betas on Google Pixels until Android 14 launches its first user beta, back in April. Now, Android 13 is already ready the first beta of its latest major update: Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1.
Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1 opens a window to the news that will come with the next and last quarterly update of Android 13, the June Pixel Feature Drop. It includes a good number of bug fixes and a few minor tweaks to the operating system.
The “GOTY” version of Android 13
Android 13 was released in August 2022, but after this initial release, Google has been improving it with different quarterly updates. These updates are called Pixel Feature Drop and, although they are exclusive to the Google Pixel, they frequently bring us news that later ends up reaching everyone.
Before Pixel Feature Drops are pushed OTA to users, Google tests them in QPR betas (Quarterly Platform Release), of which we already have the first of the third batch: Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1.
Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1 will become the June Pixel Feature Drop and since the system is already quite mature, it is expected to have less news and be one of the the most stable versions of Android 13. Among other things, it fixes these bugs:
- Fixed a bug where the text on the home screen appears in the wrong color.
- Fixed a bug where Bluetooth audio doesn’t work.
- Fixed a bug where the fingerprint reader icon on the screen was changed to an exclamation mark.
- Fixed a bug that made it impossible to select Live Wallpapers.
- Fixed a bug where the positions of widgets, icons and other options on the home screen were reset after installing an OTA.
- Fixed a bug where face unlock was unconfigured after installing an OTA.
Besides, 9to5Google has found some small interface changessome of which coincide with recent changes introduced in the Android 14 betas.
