The subreddit dedicated to Android betas took everyone by surprise yesterday by announcing the very imminent arrival of Android 14 QPR1. Problem is, not only is this type of update generally expected at the end of the year, but the final version of the operating system is not even available to the general public. Maybe soon ?
It makes no sense. First, Google is deploying several betas for Android 14 following its I/O conference, as usual. Like every year, everyone expects to see the final version arrive at the beginning of September, at most a few weeks later. Furthermore, although quite surprisingly, we learn that it would already be available on the Xiaomi 13 at the end of August.
In short, everything was going well until last week, when rumors of postponements began to circulate. A new date then appears: October 4. No matter, users will wait a bit, but now the subreddit r/android_beta has just dropped a little bomb. According to the latter, the first beta of Android 14 QPR1 will arrive on September 18.
Could the deployment of the final version of Android 14 be imminent?
A quick reminder of the facts: the so-called QPR versions of Android generally consist of correcting, on a quarterly basis, the various bugs and security flaws found on the OS. It also happens that Google takes the opportunity to add some features, but in any case, these updates generally do not arrive before December. The announcement of the Android 14 QPR1 beta is therefore particularly surprising, especially in a period of uncertainty regarding the final version of the operating system.

Everything therefore suggests that the latter should soon arrive on our smartphones, perhaps even before October 4. But there are still too many to say with certainty. The post from r/android_beta is indeed intended to be relatively evasive and even seems to serve as a reminder to users registered for the Android 14 beta, by offering them a way out for September 18. More than ever, we will therefore have to be patient to find out more.
