Android Auto continues to improve version after version, even though we rarely get to see the fruits of those improvements with our own eyes, as they happen behind the scenes. Android Auto 9.1 is one of those versions where we will not see visible changesat least initially.
As usual, we have tested Android Auto 9.1 and we can confirm that none of the Android Auto changes that were recently leaked and are still pending are live after update, such as light mode or Material You interface for app settings. We will have to wait a little longer.
This does not mean that the update is pointless. Unfortunately, Android Auto has quite a few known issues and bugs and the only hope for those who suffer from them on a daily basis is that they will finally a fix is included in the update. For example, a few weeks ago Google confirmed errors Android Auto with some Volkswagen, SKODA and SEAT models on mobiles such as the Galaxy S23.
These changes and fixes arrive first in betas and later, if all goes well, they become stable so that everyone can take advantage of them, even those who have never downloaded a beta on mobile. This is why you won’t need to do anything out of the ordinary to update your Android Auto to version 9.1. These are the steps to update:
