Are you having any issues with Android Auto? If you report them on the official support forums, the first thing they will ask you is that you share a bug report. This is now closer than ever.
You could already create bug reports with a long press on the clock in the bar, in the car, but now you have to a new button to do it from the Android Auto settings on the mobile.
You report a bug on the Android Auto forums and the first official response will usually be to ask us that we send a bug report so that they can investigate what went wrong, with a message like the following:
Thank you for reporting this issue. It would be great if you could send us a bug report from your phone to diagnose the cause of the problem. We will send you an email with instructions on how to capture a bug report. Please reply directly to the email with your information.
Creating a bug report is not complicated but it does involve enabling Android Auto developer options and also the mobile developer options, as explained by Google. In plain words, it’s a hassle: what if the same could be done with a button?
And in fact, it is already possible. A little “trick” of Android Auto is that if we hold down the clock in the system bar, an error report is generated. Of course, if the problem is that we have disconnections in the system and nothing is ever displayed in the car, this is of no use to us. For this, Android Auto has just arrived A new button to Android Auto settings.
Is called Generate bug report and you’ll find it clearly visible in the Android Auto settings: at the very top. This new menu has appeared in Android Auto 12.5 beta, without the need to activate the Android Auto developer options beforehand.
When you press it, it does exactly what it promises: a bug report starts to be generatedwhose progress you can follow from the notification that appears on your mobile. The process takes a while and Google recommends that you do it shortly after the error occurs or just before, so that it includes more useful information.
When finished, you have a bug report in the form of a ZIP file which you can share with Google for them to investigate the error. These error reports may contain private information, so it is best to share them via email rather than publicly where anyone can download them.
