Now you are Android Auto smart responses are starting to kick in to users. In this way, the next time someone writes to you while the mobile is connected to Android Auto, you will be able to choose from one of the pre-recorded responses that the system proposes instead of having to dictate your own.
Respond with a tap
Google promised us that it would be possible to use smart responses in Android Auto “soon,” and the time seems to be here, at least for those using the latest Android Auto 7.6 beta. The novelty is related to the way you can reply when you get a new message in an application like WhatsApp.
Until now, the only way to reply was out loud, after Assistant read the entire message and asked if you wanted to reply. With smart answers, you will receive one or two short suggestions to answer with a touch.
These suggestions are similar to those smart replies present in android and various applications and are based on the text of the message itself. They are processed on the mobile, so one way to predict if they will appear in Android Auto is to check if they appear in the notifications on the mobile, something that does not always happen.
In addition to these responses, the new window displayed while Google Assistant includes a custom reply button. Pressing it will allow you to dictate the answer out loud, just like before. The difference is that you don’t need to wait for the Assistant to finish reading the text of the notification, something that many will appreciate.
Like all Google news, having the latest version of Android Auto does not guarantee that you have smart responses active, as it is a server-side deployment. It is foreseeable that will be incorporated to all soonjust as Google promised four months ago.
