A change that adds to several that have already occurred during this beta cycle and that shows us how Apple is finishing polishing the redesigned notification system that came with iOS 16 and the ability to customize the lock screen of our iPhone.
A small change so that we do not miss anything
In the first versions of iOS 16, in fact up to the fourth beta of iOS 16.2, we weren’t automatically seeing older notifications. A change compared to iOS 15, which did show us these. Now, to see older notifications, we had to swipe up from the center of the screen to see them.
While hiding older notifications out of sight might be a good idea, it’s also true that could favor that we will overlook some of them. Especially if we take into account that not everyone knows the necessary gesture to show them.
Bearing this in mind, in the latest iOS 16.2 beta older notifications are no longer hidden. We do not know, in fact, if these changes have been by mistake or something intentional, but in any case now we can see all the notifications at a glance. Currently, however, this only happens like this in the notification centerwhile on the lock screen, old notifications are still hidden until we swipe up to see them.
Being a beta, the system can evolve and change without prior notice. In any case, what this small change shows us is that Apple continues to work on polishing the experience of the lock screen, notifications and the center where they meet.
Beyond the fact that it is important, perhaps through the concentration modes or through the notification summaries, that we can reduce the number of notifications we receive on a daily basis to be able to focus on the most important ones, have all of them at hand view is interesting. We’ll see what happens in future betas..
