Apple’s virtual reality and augmented reality glasses, also known as Apple Glasses, they will arrive a bit later than expected due to “software related issues”. At least, that’s what the popular leaker suggests. Ming Chi Kuowho has said in a tweet that the Cupertino company will not start shipping this product on a massive scale until the second half of 2023.
Previous rumors, let us remember, placed the shipment of Apple Glasses during the second quarter of 2023. That is, during the months of April to June; time in which, in addition, Apple usually holds WWDC, its conference for developers. Now, and according to Kuo’s new estimates, the sending components to factories for assembly of the virtual and augmented reality glasses will not be carried out until the first half of 2023 or the second quarter of that same year, so the final shipment of the product may not take place until the end of 2023.
It is not clear, yes, if Apple will delay the announcement of the Apple Glass, scheduled for early next year. We must not forget that one of the strategies that the company could follow is to reveal all the details of this viewer even months before it goes on sale. Thus, Apple would prevent possible leaks of functions and features from spoiling the surprise of the announcement. It is something that, in fact, they have already done with other devices, such as the first Apple Watch.
Apple Glass have software problems
Unfortunately, Kuo hasn’t specified what it is about those software issues that are causing a late release of Apple Glasses. Nevertheless, it is probably referring to problems with realityOSthe supposed operating system that these mixed reality glasses could include.
In any case, it is not the first time that Apple has faced complications in the development of this viewer. The company has also had legislative and distribution problems in some markets because of the lenses that the glasses would include. Not to mention the multiple supply problems that are also affecting the rest of the brand’s products.
All these drawbacks could be reflected in the number of shipments during the initial phase of its launch. According to Kuo, the distribution of Apple Glasses will be less than 500,000 units. It is, specifically, an amount well below the 800 thousand and 1.2 million units that were considered at first.
