While the program Self Service Repair for iPhone which was launched earlier this year in the US, then extended to Macs a few weeks later, it is finally coming to Europe. But at the moment iPhone 14 is not supported.
The Self Service Repair Store site offers more than 200 spare parts and tools, as well as repair manuals. The program allows customers who know how to tinker and with some knowledge of repairing electronic devices to carry out certain interventions themselves, such as changing the battery, screen or others, thanks to the same manuals, parts and tools as those used in the Apple Store and Apple Authorized Service Centers.

Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, said:
We believe the best technology, for our customers and the planet, is technology that lasts. We therefore design our products to be durable and require little maintenance or repair. But if a repair does become necessary, we want our customers to have multiple options to repair them in a safe, reliable and secure manner. So we’re really excited to launch the Self Service Repair program in Europe to give them direct access to genuine Apple parts, tools and repair manuals.
As Apple explains, each genuine Apple part is designed to be compatible with the product concerned, and is subject to numerous tests to ensure a very high level of quality, safety and reliability. The spare parts are the same (and sold at the same price) as those used in the Apple Stores and the Apple Authorized Service Centers. Customers using this service will have the option of returning replaced parts to Apple for remanufacturing or recycling, which in most cases will entitle them to a purchase credit.
The Apple tools offered to customers on the Self Service Repair Store have been specially designed to optimally repair Apple products and meet the needs of professionals who have to carry out a large number of repairs, for whom reliability and safety are essential. . The Self Service Repair program offers high-quality tools, including torque screwdrivers, repair trays, screen and battery presses, and more.
In addition to the components, Apple will also offer toolkits for rent for €59.95. Thus, customers who do not wish to purchase tools for a single repair will still be able to benefit from these professional tools. Weekly rental kits will be shipped free of charge.
The self-service repair program is part of Apple’s effort to make repairs more accessible and increase product repairability. However, as the American brand rightly points out, the vast majority of customers have no experience in the repair of electronic devices, the use of a professional repair service involving certified technical teams who use Genuine Apple parts are still the safest and most reliable way to get repaired.
Finally, over the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of repair sites with genuine Apple parts, the right tools and training, including more than 4,000 independent repairers. Our global network has more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Centers and more than 100,000 technicians. In Europe, 8 out of 10 Apple customers are currently within 30 minutes of an Apple Authorized Service Center.
