Users with an iPhone 12 or later can enjoy MagSafe technology, which is nothing more than a disk of magnets built into the back of the phone to magnetically attach accessories, including chargers. Apple has its own MagSafe charger, but third-party manufacturers do as well, such as Belkin with the BoostCharge Pro MagSafe Pad. We put them face to face to know their characteristics, differences and prices.

  • charging power: Not all MagSafe chargers allow you to recharge the iPhone at the same power as Apple’s, which is 15W, but the Belkin MagSafe Pad does. It is recommended to use a USB-C power adapter (not included in either case) of at least 20W for a good experience.
  • Wire: The advantage of these MagSafe chargers over Qi bases is that they allow you to recharge the iPhone while it is being used and without taking up the Lightning connection. Depending on the length of the cable we will have more or less freedom, and that of the Belkin BoostCharge MagSafe Pad is two meters and braided, which makes it more durable. The one for the Apple charger is one meter and is not braided, so you have to be more careful with it (because there are many complaints about its quality).
  • integrated support: The Belkin MagSafe Charger integrates a removable stand to provide the option to place it on a table or surface and consume content while recharging the battery. This, however, makes it heavier.
  • Colors: Apple only offers one finish for its MagSafe charger, and it’s silver. Those interested can purchase the Belkin proposal in black or white.
  • Price: the price of both chargers is the same, costing 49 euros for Apple and 49.95 euros for Belkin.

Apple MagSafe Charger VS Belkin BoostCharge MagSafe Pad, which one to buy?

The two chargers have a power of 15W, so there will be no problem recharging the battery of compatible iPhones at maximum speed. You have to look at other points. Apple’s proposal is compatible with accessories such as supports, in case you want to use it alternatively. But the Belkin Pad has a longer, braided cable to last longer, as well as an integrated stand and attached strap to keep it organized when not in use.
