According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, two new Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone won’t be released until December, when iOS 18.2 launches. These tools, called Image Playground and Genmoji, will add to an already impressive set of features announced with Intelligence.
iOS 18.1
Of the iOS 18.1users will be able to enjoy five main features: a tool text generation and summarizationof the notification summariesof the suggested answers in the app Messagesthe possibility of transcribe phone callsand a tool “eraser” in the app Photos to quickly remove unwanted objects. These innovations, requested more by shareholders than customers, will probably not be available in Europe, the fault of the DMA which poses more problems than it solves.
iOS 18.2
In his famous Sunday letter “Power On“, the American journalist explains that Apple now plans to launch the features Image Playground And Genmoji with iOS 18.2which is expected to be released in December. These two tools are part of Apple’s new advances in integrating artificial intelligence into its devices.
Image Playground
Image Playground will allow you to generate original images in seconds, directly in applications like Messages, FreeformOr KeynoteThe user will be able to create an image from a description, suggested ideas, or even from a person in their library. Photoswhile adjusting the style as needed. A competitor to OpenAI’s DALL-E.
Genmoji
Genmojimeanwhile, will offer the ability to create custom emojis directly via the keyboard. Thanks to a description provided by the user, a preview of the Genmoji will be generated, and it will be possible to adjust the description until the result is perfect. The user will even be able to choose a person from their Photos library to create a Genmoji in his image, thus bringing a more personal touch to conversations.
Availability
Apple Intelligence will require a iPhone 15 Pro Or iPhone 15 Pro Max operating under iOS 18.1 or later. These features will initially be available only with the device language set to English, with more languages coming over the next year.
There is no doubt that the iPhone 16 will be compatible and that the new range will even benefit from exclusive features, not yet announced.
