More distance, same price
Calm down, the price has not risen: Apple sells it at 179 euros while the price of the 1.8-meter is 149 euros. As we have already seen, the reasons for these prices are discovered when you take the cable apart and see all the engineering work that goes into it.
What at first can be understood as a simple connection port hides chips, covers of high-quality materials and a 19-strand coaxial cable to guarantee the maximum quality of the video signal. In addition, its exterior is braided (which prevents knots from being made in the cable) and all 24 pins of the Thunderbolt connection in the form of USB-C are gold plated.
And why the greater distance of three meters? Well, because there are probably professionals who connect multiple monitors to their Mac Pro or Mac Studio, and that can mean that more distance is needed between the monitor and the computer. It will also depend on the table, the location of the power outlets and how you can distribute everything on the work table.
Of course there are cheaper Thunderbolt video cables, but if you want to take advantage of all the benefits of the Apple Display Studio and you are looking for the highest quality, this is the best option. If you accept the price to pay, of course.
