In a few months, owners of 2nd generation AirPods Pro will benefit from several new features thanks to the arrival of iOS 18. As usual, Apple is testing these new features with developers who can access a beta program, as is the case with other Apple products. The company released a new beta number late last night under a new build number.
New beta for AirPods Pro 2
For several hours, developers have been able to download a new beta for their 2nd generation AirPods Pro. Apple has put online on its servers a beta firmware numbered 7A5290a, the previous one was 7A5266c.
This new software version aims to test the new features coming to the AirPods Pro 2:
- Head movement detection to answer “yes” or “no” to a question asked by Siri (to answer a call for example)
- Vocal isolation to reduce noise in your environment to a minimum when you are in a traditional phone conversation or FaceTime conversation
- L‘custom spatial audio’ specific to certain games distributed on the App Store
This new beta is available to developers who own the AirPods Pro 2 with the USB-C and Lightning charging case. AirPods 1 owners are unfortunately excluded from the beta, as they will not be able to access the three new features mentioned above.
