2023 has to be the year. Something is going to happen at Apple. And it is that they do not stop appearing hints of this still mysterious product which may well be dressed first in the form of a virtual reality headset and then augmented reality glasses or a hybrid between the two. And the latest leak, typical of Apple’s code, shows once again that it is something that we will know sooner rather than later.
If a few days ago we knew what seemed to be internal parts of Apple glasses, what we know today is a reference to “realityOS. No, it is not the name of the next reality television show, but the one that aims to have the operating system that Apple will release in its augmented, virtual and/or mixed reality products. Although it has also been filtered under the name of rOS and more recently with xrOS.
References to realityOS on GitHub
The point is that the researcher Nick Chan discovered a reference to “realityOS” in an Apple open source GitHub repository. Reference that, as has happened on previous occasions when discovered, could have been eliminated, although traces remain in the form of screenshots as shown by the Twitter user @aaronp613 .
Account Steve Moseranother code researcher, who Apple also uses “PLATTFORM_WOLF” as a code name for this operating system.. In fact, it claims that this is the name now used on GitHub to replace references found to “realityOS”.
From what the code itself tells, it is hardly known that it is the system that is being used in a simulation tool. In any case, it seems that we are getting closer to knowing the Apple Reality Pro or whatever Apple wants to call its first mixed reality device. AND WWDC aims to be the chosen scenario for it. Knowing that it is at the end of March or beginning of April when the date of this conference is announced, the countdown has begun.
