I was afraid that this day was going to come sooner or later, and it is finally here. Apple has officially shut down the iTunes Movie Trailers appwhich offered the possibility of seeing the previews of upcoming film releases from any distributor in good quality and without ads.
The latest app update describes that security and stability improvements have been applied, but at the same time warns that the new place to watch movie trailers is the TV app. It was also one of the last strongholds where the ‘iTunes’ brand still survived.
From iTunes Movie Trailers to ‘Movie & TV Trailers’
Some Anglo-Saxon media reveal that there is a new section in the TV App Store called ‘Watch the latest trailers’, but it does not appear in the Spanish version of the application. Perhaps the change has yet to be reflected, or perhaps Apple has decided not to show it since all the trailers are released in English.
Fortunately, the news has its good part: we now have a new trailer website as a result of the merger with the TV service. The interface is more modern, and although we don’t have all the advances of the moment, the quality and the absence of ads continue to be advantages in a world where YouTube continues to be the main alternative.
That website remains the only official Apple place where you can see trailers in good quality. It’s a pity that this change has arrived, but the ancient design of the previous website already suggested that Cupertino had the intention of closing it down.
