Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India. The company, which has been on the agenda with such plans for a while, has now finally implemented these plans. The device is the latest generation flagship that has been introduced recently, making it the first iPhone model to be produced in the country shortly after its launch. The smartphone was manufactured at the Foxconn factory near Chennai.
Apple has been producing four iPhone models so far in India through contract partners for several years. However, the phones’ production cycles were delayed for a quarter or two after their release. Producing the new iPhone 14 locally will save on Apple import duties and taxes, but the brand will not lower the price of the smartphone in the country, as it did with older models.

Foxconn is a pioneer when it comes to electronics manufacturing worldwide. Made in India, the iPhone 14 will be sold domestically and globally with the ‘Made in India’ label. However, it will take a few weeks for the device made in India to get into the hands of customers. “We are excited to be producing the iPhone 14 in India, the new iPhone 14 series offers breakthrough new technologies and key security features,” Apple said in a statement.
A previous report by JP Morgan stated that Apple is expected to move 5 percent of iPhone 14 production to India by the end of 2022 and 25 percent of all iPhone production in the country by 2025 to India.
