As is the case with Netflix, Prime Video or Disney+, Apple is investing in foreign original creations to feed its Apple TV+ streaming service. After spending several tens of millions of euros on French creations, Apple is today announcing its first German original series. “Where is Wanda?”
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Apple TV+ will premiere its first-ever German series, titled “Where is Wanda?”. This new dark comedy promises to captivate viewers with its original plot and unique humor.
The series follows Dedo and Carlotta Klatt, a couple desperately searching for their 17-year-old daughter Wanda, who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of their son Ole, they decide to take matters into their own hands by using surveillance cameras and disguising themselves as employees of an electricity supplier to spy on their neighbors. Each episode promises to delve deeper into their amateur investigation, with the episodes revealing unexpected secrets and surprising twists.
Produced by UFA Fiction, “Where’s Wanda?” is the brainchild of Oliver Lansley, who also serves as the screenwriter. Alongside Lansley, Nataly Kudiabor, Sebastian Werninger and Christian Ditter serve as executive producers. Christian Ditter and Tobi Baumann are directing, providing quality artistic direction for this series shot in Germany.
The first season of “Where is Wanda?” consists of 8 episodes, with staggered broadcasts until November 13, 2024. The cast includes renowned German actors such as Heike Makatsch, Axel Stein, Lea Drinda, Leo Simon, Nikeata Thompson, Palina Rojinski, Kostja Ullmann, and Harriet Herbig-Matten. Their performances promise to bring to life characters as complex as they are endearing.
