Apple TV+ continues to triumph in awards season!
Apple TV + was present at the 95th edition of the Oscars. during the ceremony the short “The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse” won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Filmadding the fourth statuette for the platform that has gone with full hands for two consecutive years.
With this recognition Movie based on Charlie Mackesy’s book keeps racking up awards season winsfor which he has already garnered a BAFTA Film Award, four Annie Awards, including Best Special Production, and an NAACP Image Awards nomination for Best Animated Short.
Apple TV+ triumphed at the Oscars for the second year in a row
On this occasion, the Academy recognized The story of the moving journey follows the unlikely friendship of a boy, a mole, a fox and a horse who travel together in search of the boy’s home.
Featuring Mackesy’s signature artwork brought to life in full color with beautiful hand-drawn animation, the film stars Tom Hollander like the mole, Idris Elbe like the fox, gabriel byrne like the horse and Jude Coward Nicoll like the child.
After the recognition, the director of Apple World Video Jamie Erlicht thanked after an emotional speech:
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse shed light on the magic of discovering connection in unexpected places, and we are honored that the Academy awarded this beautiful and moving film tonight.
Despite a young catalogue, Apple TV+ has brought strong competitors to the awards ceremony. To date, Apple TV+ original series, documentaries and movies have garnered 345 wins and 1,421 award nominations and counting, including the multi-Emmy-winning comedy Ted Lasso.
While at the Oscars ceremony, Apple TV + already has four awards. Just last year, the film CODA won three Best Picture awards, making Apple the first streaming service to achieve the feat. As well as Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur and Best Adapted Screenplay for Siân Heder.
“The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” was a co-production between Apple and the BBC. The 30-minute short premiered worldwide on Apple TV+ on Christmas Day..
