It was back in 2014 with the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus that Apple presented to the world something that is still latent in all iPhones on the market today: “Hey Siri”. It is the voice command that we can use to “invoke” Apple’s virtual assistant without having to touch our iPhone.
It’s an especially useful feature if you don’t have it nearby, if you’re doing something else and can’t use it, or any other similar situation. However, now it could change. If the rumors are true, “Hey Siri” could disappear this MondayAlthough it would be for a good cause.
“Siri, what’s the weather like today?”
according to account mark gurman in one of his last tweets, those of Cupertino would be considering replace the voice command “Hey Siri” with simply “Siri”. It would be closer to the operation of other assistants such as Amazon’s, which is activated by saying “Alexa” exclusively. Gurman says we might see him next week, so it’s clear he’s talking about WWDC 2023.
If you have or have had an iPhone at some point in your life, you will know that this feature causes Siri to be accidentally invoked more than once. If “Hey Siri” already does it, it’s possible that “Siri” just plain causes more of these errors. We understand that If this rumor is true, Apple will have taken measures to avoid it, but that’s just speculation.
In any case, there is nothing left to discover. WWDC 2023 will be this Monday from 7:00 p.m. Spanish time. Apple will present its new operating systems as iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14 and watchOS 10. In addition, we expect the Reality Pro, its xrOS operating system and more.
In Applesphere | “We will talk about it for years”: I attended the previous ones and I am convinced that this WWDC23 will be much more than iOS 17 or Apple Reality Pro
