Apple would remove leather cases, which until now were present for all iPhone models, for the next generation. The already famous name “FineWoven Case” has resonated a lot in recent weeks, as an alternative to leather material. However, perhaps leather cases would not be the only ones that would be withdrawn from the market. So in this post we are going to tell you what other accessory Apple would load up on, and perhaps, starting today, after presenting the iPhone 15.
Those from Cupertino, in addition to their products, are also famous for the large number of official accessories they have. Over time, we have been able to see how its available range has grown. But perhaps we could see it reduced. In an effort to reduce its environmental impact, it is already rumored that we will say goodbye to leather cases and straps. But this material will not be the only one that is removed, nor will it be the only accessories that disappear.
Goodbye, also, to silicone
According to reports from MacRumors, Apple “would consider discontinuing its silicone and fluoroelastomer accessories.” These two materials are what we can find, at least until now, as alternatives to leather accessories.
The reason for this withdrawal is the same as with leather. «Replace them with more ecological and new generation materials«, as they make known from the English-speaking media. And what are the accessories that would be affected? From MacRumors they explain that they would be the following:
- The iPhone silicone case with MagSafe
- Apple Watch Sport Band
- Apple Watch Solo Loop Strap
- Run AirTag Loop
Once we know this list of possible accessories that could disappear in a very short time, from the same website they announce that this information has been leaked by Kosutami, someone already known within the sphere of rumors, who “has previously shared information about the braided cable of the iPhone 15 and various models such as MagSafe chargers, AirPods of different colors and more.
Therefore, Apple would not only be removing leather, but also silicone and fluoroelastomers. Materials that, to date, had been the basis of its ingredients to make the (almost) complete catalog of its accessories. Thus, three well-differentiated product ranges would see the construction materials of their accessories renewed.
Furthermore, from the same medium they explain that “although these materials have less environmental impact than leather materials, they are not made from recycled materials.” Along the same lines, they add that “materials such as fluoroelastomers are difficult to recycle, due to their heat-resistant properties, their hardness and their intertwined structure.”
Thus, Apple would present a new and renewed line of new generation materials, in all these accessories (and those that would be yet to come, to dress future products that may be presented). The fine fabric, better known in networks as “FineWove”, is expected to be the first of them, which would replace leather.
