It was the very first to ship Apple’s new chip, in 2020: the arrival of the MacBook Air M1 on the laptop market was a small revolution, as the performance of the machine was increased tenfold compared to the old generation under Intel. More than two years after its release, this laptop has lost none of its interest, quite the contrary. Especially since its price has just dropped below 950 euros, which makes it even more recommendable.

Instead of 1,199 euros on the Californian brand’s official website, the MacBook Air M1 (2020) with 256 GB of storage is now displayed at 949 euros on Amazon. It is thus displayed at its lowest price on the site of the e-commerce giant. We find the same offer at E.Leclerc.
As a reminder, the MacBook Air M1 has already been sold for less at Fnac. However, the reduction was due to a trade-in bonus, which requires the resale of an old device, which is not the case here.

Apple MacBook Air 2020 M1 at the best price?
A design that does not change, but that’s a good point
For its MacBook Air M1, released in 2020, Apple did not opt for a radical change in design: we thus found the aluminum chassis that could be found on its predecessor, as well as exemplary finishes that have makes the signature of the apple brand. And even if the 2022 model of the MacBook Air, which embeds the M2 chip, offers a 20% more compact design, the MacBook Air version 2020 remains just as easy to transport thanks to its featherweight of 1.29 kg.
This MacBook Air M1 also incorporates a 13-inch Retina True Tone screen, with a definition of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and compatible with a very wide color gamut (P3). The panel is quite shiny, so beware of any reflections. Anyway, creative people will particularly appreciate this screen for indulging in video editing or photo processing, even if the most demanding will still prefer to turn to a more powerful MacBook Pro.
The high performance of the M1 chip
The MacBook Air M1 was the first to ship the Apple brand’s in-house chip, Apple M1, based on an ARM architecture. The Cupertino company had, in fact, decided to get rid of the Intel Core. The 8-core CPU of this new generation processor thus promised, according to the brand, a power 3.5 times greater than an old model under Intel. As for its 7-core GPU, graphics performance would be multiplied by 5. With such a configuration, office tasks will run smoothly, as well as more creative and professional tasks such as video or photo editing. And if the M1 chip has since been improved to give birth to the M2 chip, the first of the name still defends itself very well. In addition, this MacBook Air M1 has the advantage of less consumption compared to older models, which allowed the brand to do without fans. Farewell to the machine that blows intermittently: this ultraportable is pleasantly quiet.
Finally, the MacBook Air M1 is particularly enduring: the Apple brand indicates a 50% increase in autonomy compared to the previous generation, even if in fact, this autonomy was not as excellent as expected. You can still, in theory, last a day of work without falling stranded. Special mention also for the very good standby time, as well as for the instantaneous exit from standby.
